The BlackBerry server was around since the early years of Blackberry dominance and proliferation The BES and blackberry smartphone users have decreased steadily with a few holdouts who have been clinging on to their BlackBerry smartphones. Finally they were okay with making the leap to using Androids and iPhone. Still a few users remaining however. iPhone and Android use active sync and well as new blackberry 10. Active sync works so well with some differences as each phone and version of phone setting differ slightly. The process has become much better and active sync has also become more reliable in terms of back-end server memory usage and authenticating processes. The small group of users who have finally surrendered their BlackBerry phones and received new Android phones were having an issue as you have described. The issue was that although the accounts would setup, they would not receive any messages. The message would always say Loading messages but messages would never download and display on the smartphone. On the iPhone, the mailbox was just empty and I also use a BlackBerry simulator which works great. It too would setup the account with active sync connection with now issues every time. But, there would be no email displayed, The mailbox would appear empty and no email could be sent or received. This setting was used to correct the problem worked. I presume it it because the users Active Directory accounts had been used for a BES server before. Troubleshooting BES issues and even in some cases during early BES versions, permission were manipulated, altered or modified to get BlackBerry smartphones to work. You are right, the Anonymous Authentication is not present and until it is there is no way Outlook will completely setup. even manual configuration would not fix and complete the setup for the users. We had updated the operating system with all updates available and also applied a service pack to the installed Microsoft Office . None of these helped for what ever reason. We had found in some forums that updating the desktop operating system by running windows updates and also updating Outlook with the latest service packs and updates fixed it for some people with the same software issue. Unfortunately this did not work for us to get the software to completely configure and have a working user profile. They have a older computer desktop system that they need to maintain. it contains a legacy application which they cannot upgrade and still works well for them. The system is on older hardware and we will probably be convert the desktop to a virtual computer desktop soon in order to keep the software application working for them. Currently however, most users have had remote support request services with web based remote support software at some point.
