Microsoft Desktop Server and Application Support
One of the most widely and well known software companies in the world is undoubtedly, Microsoft. Microsoft is probably the most well known company for user applications, desktop and server operating systems.
For decades Microsoft dominates the software market for desktop and server operating systems world-wide. Microsoft also dominates the world market in user productivity applications as we all know and have used one of their applications. The most well known of course is the Microsoft Office Suite. Established in the early stages as a DOS based application then as Windows development grew its office productivity suite also grew into a Windows based application.
As well known for their user productivity applications is their desktop operating system and server operating systems. They are much more than the three aforementioned systems but also for their SQL database, Email servers, CRM, and many other server applications.
It support service also grew larger and better as the decades have gone by in step with its applications and operating systems. They use their own Easy Assist and some recent support requests I have seen them use web-ex. As many vendors of software and hardware have realized, marketing and selling is half the battle. Post sales support and customer retention is key to growing relationships and a successful future. Providing support in person for all issues in next to impossible. Software for remote support is required to cover the vastness of Microsoft's installation base.
Software for desktop remote support over the web has benefited large and small companies. Even the largest of companies such as Microsoft, whose reach is global cannot support all their clients with remote computer control over the web. The support does not end with computer or desktop issues, not with user applications but the incredible list of Microsoft servers such as SQL and Exchange to name just a few all require support. Microsoft's professional services and support group has an incredible depth in staffing. It is world wide and capable of handling thousands of concurrent issues world-wide simultaneously.
